Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival in Turckheim
You arrive in Turckheim, a quiet and cosy village with medieval walls still in good order.

Enjoy a wonderful dinner at any of the restaurants near your accommodation and get ready for your routes during the week.

Day 2 - Turckheim to Kaysersberg 8,0 miles | 13 km
Turckheim will offer you a dream tour of its quiet streets, half-timbered houses and colourful flowers. It also has its emblematic arched French door, which is almost 700 years old.

The reward for a walk on wonderful paths among vineyards could be nothing more than to taste the oldest wine appellation in the Alsace region, Kaefferkopf.

Afterwards you will head to your accommodation in Kaysersberg, one of the most beautiful villages in the Alsace region.

Today will be a day to remember. It will be full of excitement and breath-taking views full of history. Your tour will begin with a slight ascent to the classic French cemetery; Once there, you will enjoy magical and stunning views over the endless Alsatian plains.

To finish your day, take a walk over majestic paths, surrounded by nature and the most common sight in the region: huge vineyards that will guide you until you recognize the unmistakable houses in Riquewihr, where you will spend the night.

Day 6 - Riquewihr to Bergheim 6,5 miles | 10,5 km
Today your guide will be the vineyards that are located next to the mountain. As you delve into them, you will notice the aroma of the grapes and the medieval atmosphere that will transport you to another time. A unique mix, without doubt!

Along the way you will see many ancient buildings that you can admire such as the Hunawihr church, surrounded by walls that have been preserved over time.

As you follow the path that will take you to your accommodation in Bergheim, you can appreciate the ruins of what were once three imposing castles.

Before you finish your day, you can visit the imposing Haut-Koenigsbourg Castle. There you can reach on foot or in a short drive by local transport.

This day will be full of emotions. From Bergheim to Chatenois you can walk along a quiet path where you can visit historical buildings such as the German military cemetery, the Gothic Church of Saint Hippolyte and Kintzheim Castle.

Once you finish your walk in Chatenois we will transfer you to Turckheim.

Travel & transfers

To start your trip, the best option is to get to Basel Airport. From there, you'll need to take a train to Colmar and then take a short transfer by public or private transport to your accommodation.

When you finish your trip, a short transfer will drop you off at Colmar train station, from where you'll need to head to Basel St Louis station, and then get to Basel Airport to catch your return flight home.

Is luggage transfer included? What are the luggage requirements?
Absolutely! Each traveller has included 1 piece of luggage that we will transfer between your accommodations. It's important that this piece of luggage meets the following criterias:
  • Maximum weight of 45 lbs (20 kg).
  • Must be only 1 piece of luggage without any attachments or accessories.
  • Should not contain valuables, fragile items, food or medications.
  • Must be correctly identified (booking reference of your trip and the full name of the trip holder).

This is a route where you will stay in several hotels; each will give you a different experience to make your holiday more enjoyable. However, depending on your preference, additional days can be scheduled at the hotels you want.
What is the level of difficulty on this trip?
The difficulty level on this route is very low. You don't need experience in walking. Most of the paths are easy to walk and are among vineyards, forests and forest pines.
