Day 1 - Arrival in Motovun
This fascinating tour of Croatia's coast begins in Motovun, a charming village that looks like a postcard: located on top of a hill, surrounded by walls and vineyards. Its name precisely comes from Celtic language and means "village in the hills".

Day 2 - Circular route around Motovun 7,5 miles | 12,2 km
Today is an ideal day to enjoy the flora and fauna of the region. You will take a circular route to the village of Kaldir and then return to Motovun.

To start today's tour, you'll first need to get to Livade and for this you have two options:
The first is a transfer that lasts approximately 10 minutes and the second is walking through the vineyards.
Then you will start a tour among the fields, shrubs and orchards, to Groznjan, a charming village that, in the 60s, was recovered by a group of artists who gave their particular touch to its cobblestoned streets and gallery entrances.

The day starts with a short drive to the desolate village of Bartolici. From there you will start an ascent through forests and orchid fields while spotting different bird species.

Today you will have the chance to explore the circular route along the Seven Waterfalls Trail. This is one of the most famous walking routes in Istria, as the trail is well signposted and the natural attractions are breathtaking.
Along the way, you can discover the River Mirna and its tributary, the River Draga. You have the possibility to cross through forests, some villages and, of course, beautiful waterfalls. One of the biggest is the Vela pec waterfall, which is 26.5 metres wide and 5.6 metres wide.

After a transfer of approximately 40 minutes to Prirode Ucka Park, you will begin the ascent of Mount Vojak, whose altitude of 1396 metres (4580 feet) earns it the title of the highest peak on the Istrian Peninsula.

You can learn more about its history and traditions by touring its characteristic villas that have beautiful gardens, visiting the churches and walking along the promenade until you reach a small port, where you will find the renowned sculpture "Maiden with the Seagull ", a symbol of the region.
Later on, you will have the option to head to Lovran, while contemplating the incredible bays and majestic cliffs. The round trip has a total distance of 12 km, however, you have the option of returning to Opatija by taking a bus from Lovran.

You can decide when to start and when to stop. We will give you the route instructions on foot, and provide you with detailed maps so you can explore at your own pace, in a calm way.
What should my physical preparation be?
This route has a medium-low difficulty level, so it is not necessary to have experience in walking, however, it is recommended that you are in good physical condition and that you are in good health. It is ideal for people looking for between 4 and 6 hours of walking a day, with ascents and descents of up to 700 metres.
Since some of the sections are over uneven terrain it will be necessary to climb in places.
