Day 1 - Arrival in Newcastle
The starting point of this fascinating tour will be Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, a city in the north-east of Englandwhere culture and history are breathed. Its inhabitants are known as Geordies, who have their own dialect. In ancient times it was one of the main forts in the Roman Empire, and today it is an important business and science centre.

Day 2 - Newcastle to Heddon 15,7 miles | 25 km
Today, your walk will be along the River Tyne, a coastal tributary in the north-east of England that begins as two rivers, the South Tyne and the North Tyne.

You'll follow your journey to Heddon-on-the-Wall, a charming village in Northumberland, located on Hadrian's Wall.

Day 3 - Heddon to Chollerford 16 miles | 26 km
On this day, as you go along, you'll find Hadrian's Wall. You will also walk through Vindolanda, one of the Roman forts that guarded the wall, then along Harlow Hill, a small village located on the wall line and where a military road also passes through.

Later, you'll follow a path parallel to the well-known B6318 road, which runs from Heddon-on-the-Wall to Greenhead.

Day 4 - Chollerford to Once Brewed 12,7 miles | 20,5 km
Today you can enjoy one of the best stretches on Hadrian's Wall. During the first part of the day, you will walk near the wall and after passing Shield, you will have incredible views while exploring the Roman ruins and fortresses.

Day 5 - Once Brewed to Lanercost 16 miles | 26 km
You will walk through the Northumberland National Park and ascend to Winshields Crags, which with its altitude of 345 metres is the highest point of the route. We recommend that you have your camera at hand, because from there you will have some stunning panoramas.

Then you will continue on an irregular stretch and have the possibility to discover more about the history of these lands.

Before you arrive in Lanercost, you can pause in Gilsland, a small village on the border between Cumbria and Northumberland.

Arriving in Carlisle, the capital of the county of Cumbria, you can visit the Tullie House Museum, an establishment that houses an extensive collection of paintings by important regional and national artists.

Along the way, you can enjoy great views, while listening to the song of the great variety of birds that are found in this region.

Later, you will arrive at Bowness-on-Solway, a village with only 100 houses, located on the south side of the Solway Firth estuary that separates England from Scotland.

When you've finished your trip, from Bowness-On-Solway, you can take a bus (except on Sundays) to Carlisle and from there head to the city from where you'll go back to your place of origin.
