Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival in Brig
Start your holiday by flying to Zürich or Geneva airports, from where you can take a direct train to Brig.

Brig is located next to the port of the Simplon, and among the places you won't want to miss are: the Stockalperschloss Baroque Palace, the Brigerbad thermal springs and Brig´s old town.

Day 2 - Brig to Simplon 13 miles I 21 km
Take a cable car to Rosswald, one of the most popular winter sports resorts. If you travel in summer, you can enjoy its artificial lake and sunny days.

The path will continue along an ascent that crosses the Ghent Valley and includes views of the Bernese Highlands.

Day 3 - Simplon to Gspon 10 miles I 16 km
The path begins on the Bistinepass Trail, belonging to the Simplon Pass. It continues through the Nanz Valley, along a route created during World War II, which extends from South to North, and is crossed by the Gamsa stream.

The walk ends in Gspon, a hamlet above the Visp Valley, surrounded by mountains and glaciers.

The road to Saas Grund will show you the incredible variety of flora of the Alps, home to more than 240 species of plants, including the Swiss pine.

In Saas Grund you can choose between taking a bus or continuing the walk to Saas Fee.

Today's route will be through the Matter Valley that starts in Visp. You will walk over the top part of the valley, where there will be steep and narrow paths in some areas, so watch your steps.

All the way along, you will have beautiful views of the Swiss Alps. Once in Hannigalp, you can continue your walk or take the cable car to Grachen, a town known not only for its beauty, but for specializing in family tourism and its child-friendly infrastructure.

Your walk today will be along the renowned Europaweg, one of the most beautiful routes on your holiday. This trail stretches from Grachen to Grat with stunning views including the Matterhorn, one of the most famous mountains in the Alps for its pyramid shape.

Day 7 - Europahütte to Zermatt 10,5 miles I 17 km
Today's route allows you to choose between two walking options with different levels of difficulty:

Low difficulty: Descend through the Valais Canton, just on the bank of the River Mattervispa, where you will walk to Zermatt.

Medium-high difficulty: Tour the Europaweg, a path that stretches through the Matter Valley, with panoramic views of the Ried Glacier and the Matterhorn.

This route has rocky and narrow terrain and includes the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in the world, so you must have experience and be in good physical condition.
