Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrival in Brodick
We recommend flying to Prestwick Airport, where you can take a taxi to the ferry terminal in Ardrossan. You can also travel from Glasgow to Ardrossan by train, by transfer in Kilwinning.
The first place you'll find on your ferry ride will be Brodick, the largest village on Arran.
You can enjoy this day doing outdoor activities such as fishing, cycling and climbing, or getting to know the city and its history at the Isle of Arran Heritage Museum.

Belvedere was built in 1920 by a retiring sea captain, who brought back South American mahogany as ship’s ballast, from which the doors and skirtings are made. At this accommodation, you will have a comfortable stay with views of Goat Fell peak and Brodick Bay.

Day 2 - Brodick to Lochranza 20 miles I 32 km
You can choose between two route options to start your walk: a route that will take you to the top of the isle’s highest peak, Goat Fell, or a coastal route bordering Brodick.
On the Goat Fell route, you will reach a height of 874 metres with beautiful views and a route that will allow you to appreciate the varied fauna and flora in the region, being able to find dwarf juniper plants and tiger beetles.
The coastal route will take you up to Brodick Castle, which belonged to the Dukes of Hamilton and has inside collections with objects over 600 years old.
The two routes are located in Corrie, where the route will continue along the coast and with a mountain bottom passing through Sannox and Fallen Rocks, until you reach Lochranza, famous for its castle, whisky distillery and spectacular nature that surrounds it.

Day 3 - Lochranza to Blackwaterfoot 14 miles I 22 km
Start your walk to Catacol Bay Reservoir, where you'll start a coastal path to the village of Pirnmill, named after an old pirns-producing mill.

Day 4 - Blackwaterfoot to Lagg 12 miles I 19 km
To do this journey, you can choose between taking a bus to Machrie and start your walk there, or start the route to Lagg from Blackwaterfoot.
The route from Machrie will give you the opportunity to get to know the Machrie Moor stones, a Neolithic centre in the middle of the moor. On the next stretch of the road you will meet The King's Cave, which legend has it, was a refuge for King Robert the Bruce.
The road will continue towards Lagg, passing by the Preacher's Cave and the Lagg Distillery, built in 2017.

Day 5 - Lagg to Whiting Bay 12 miles I 20 km
To head to Whiting Bay, you can choose one of the following routes:
Route through Bennan Head and Dippin Head: Before choosing this path check for high tide, as with this condition, it is not possible to climb the large rocks to go around the capes of Bennan Head and Dippen Head.
The high route option will be a calmer path towards Bennan Head, in the northern part of Ballantrae Bay, where there is a 200-metre-deep cave where it is said that the cannibal Alexander "Sawney" Bean and his clan lived.

On the way to Brodick, you can take a route through a tree-lined glen that will take you through the Glenashdale Double Waterfall, and then continue on a coastal route through Clauchlands.
Another option for this last walk of your walking holiday will be a walk along the coast, overlooking Holy Isle, about 3 kilometres long. You continue through the No Take Zone Marine Reserve, one of Scotland's largest areas with Maerl seaweed.
