Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival in Helmsley
You can start your journey from Leeds Bradford International Airport or Malton train station. From these two places, you can take a train, taxi or buses that will get you to your destination.

In Helmsley you can visit the National Birds of Prey Centre and Helmsley Castle.

Day 2 - Helmsley to Osmotherley 22 miles I 35 km
The walk will begin in the direction of the ruins of Rievaulx Abbey, built in order to be the meeting place and for the education of the white monks. One of the best preserved elements is the monks' dining room, almost 38 metres long.

Continue and you will come across Sutton Bank, a hill and nature reserve in the North York Moors National Park in North Yorkshire. Your walk will end in Osmotherley.

Day 3 - Osmotherley to Clay Bank Top 11 miles I 17,7 km
On this day, you will cross the most demanding stretch of the route with extensive ascents and descents across the moors.

The walk will end at Clay Bank Top, located in Bilsdale Valley.

Day 4 - Clay Bank Top to Newton under Roseberry 13 miles I 22 km
You'll start the this by heading away towards the Urra Moor moor, 454 meters high. In it you will find burial mounds and prehistoric rocks, among which Face Stone stands out.

You will pass through the village of Kildale and Easby Moor Hill. The last leg of the walk will take you to Newton under Roseberry.

Day 5 - Newton under Roseberry to Saltburn by the Sea 11,5 miles I 18,5 km
You'll start the day by heading away from Newton under Roseberry to Roseberry Topping, a hill known as the "Yorkshire Matterhorn" for its half-cone-shaped summit and jagged cliff. Later, you will pass through the town of Skelton-in-Cleveland, where you can visit the Old All Saints Church. 

Cross wooded paths and moors before reaching Saltburn by the Sea, with its Victorian gardens and east-west coast.

Day 6 - Saltburn by the Sea to Whitby 21,2 miles I 34,2 km
Today's walk starts along the coast and then has an ascent to the highest point of eastern England, Rock Cliff. Later, the road descends to the pretty village of Staithes, situated in a small bay. 

You will return to the coast to finally reach Whitby, known for its blue flag-winning beaches, representative of sustainable tourism; and for its steam train, the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.
