At the start of the route, you will need to take bus line 348 from Puerto de la Cruz to the Teide cable car. This linear route can be done as an ascent or descent of Mount Teide.

The climb becomes increasingly demanding, but the reward of the views from the summit, followed by a quick descent by cable car to the bus stop, makes this day a real mountain challenge that is totally worthwhile. With total ascents of over 1,000 metres and a maximum elevation of 3,600 metres, this hike is the most challenging on the itinerary but undoubtedly also the most rewarding.

At the end of the route, take bus line 348 from the Teide cable car back to Puerto de la Cruz.

    FAQs

Is luggage transfer included? What are the luggage requirements?
Absolutely! Each traveller has included 1 piece of luggage that we will transfer between your accommodations. It's important that this piece of luggage meets the following criterias:
    • Maximum weight of 45 lbs (20 kg).
    • Must be only 1 piece of luggage without any attachments or accessories.
    • Should not contain valuables, fragile items, food or medications.
    • Must be correctly identified (booking reference of your trip and the full name of the trip holder).
The approximate luggage delivery time will be at 4:00 PM.
What is the best time of year to do this trip?
The trip is available all year round, thanks to Tenerife's mild climate, although the best times for walking are spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November), when temperatures are pleasant and the trails are more comfortable to enjoy. May and October are particularly ideal months for exploring the island's diverse landscapes on foot, with mild days and less intense heat. In contrast, the summer months (July and August) can be hotter for walking, and in winter, although the climate is generally mild even in December and January, high mountain areas such as Teide can be cooler and require more preparation.
What should my physical preparation be?
This route is of medium-high difficulty, making it ideal for people looking for 4 to 6 hours of walking per day with climbs that can be steeper and longer. It is recommended that you are in good physical condition and in good health. Some sections of the walk have uneven terrain, including rocky areas.
How far in advance should I book my trip?
We suggest you make your booking as soon as possible, as soon as you have decided on your travel dates, as it is a popular destination, especially in July and August.
What equipment do I need to bring?
Given that the walks will be along rocky coastal paths, with ascents and descents, it is essential to have walking boots. However, in our information pack, we provide detailed advice and a list of items you should bring with you. This includes waterproof clothing, a hat, sunscreen and other items that may be useful.
What if I'm not able to finish one of the stages?
You can take public transport or taxis to your next accommodation. Please check with the accommodation providers or our local partner, as they are best placed to advise you.
