Santorini and Naxos: The Greek paradise

This first day of travel begins with a transfer from Santorini Airport to the port to take a ferry to Naxos, the largest island in the Cycladic Archipelago, where a private transfer will be waiting for you to take you to your hotel.

Today you can go by bus or taxi to Jalki (Chalki in Greek), a beautiful village located in the centre of Naxos, which was formerly the administrative and commercial capital of the island.

Later, on your way to the ancient village of Melanes, you'll encounter Apano Kastro, one of the island's most incredible monuments, set on a rocky hill.  The wall dates back to classical times and the fort was built in the 13th century by the Venetians.

Arriving in Kinidaros, you will start a pleasant tour of the agricultural village of Eggares, where you will have the possibility to visit two old restored olive presses, one of them currently functioning as a municipal office and hospital. You can also walk its streets to the main square and admire Kimissis Theotokou Church.

To start today's walk you will have to go by bus or taxi to Filoti. From there, you will begin the ascent to the iconic Mount Zas.

This will be a mythological journey, because, according to tradition, this was the place where Zeus was born and raised. While reaching the top isn't an easy task, the reward will be worth it: the incredible views you'll have will be incomparable, and you can say you were at the highest point of the Cyclades.

Leaving the beautiful Naxos behind you will arrive by ferry at Santorini, a fascinating volcanic island in the middle of the Aegean Sea that looks like a postcard: whitewashed houses on the cliffs above an underground crater.

After a transfer to Perissa, a village characterized by its black sandy beach of volcanic origin, you will begin to ascend to a point that is exposed and offers stunning views, but not recommended for people suffering from vertigo.

Later, you can continue on your way along the trails that are surrounded by beautiful landscapes until you reach Akrotiri.

Arriving in Fira, the capital of Santorini, a fascinating village that will enchant you with its whitewashed houses on the cliff, you will be able to contemplate the Caldera and Nea Kameni, an active volcanic island, located to the west.

You will have the possibility to walk through its narrow alleys bordered by its characteristic houses with multi coloured shutters and visit the Catholic Cathedral, dedicated to St. John the Baptist and restoredafter the earthquake in 1975, or the Orthodox Cathedral, built in 1956 and dedicated to the presentation of the mother of God. There is also the option to go to the Ancient History Museum, where pieces found in the excavations carried out in Akrotiri and Potamos are exhibited.

Later, you will continue on your journey to Oia, a village on the northern tip of Santorini, which fascinates you with its beauty. Stroll around its beautiful and famous white buildings with blue ceilings, while enjoying an unforgettable sunset.

At the end of the day, a private transfer will pick you up and take you back to your hotel.
