Day 1 - Arrival in Porto
Porto is the starting city for this charming cycling tour along the Camino Portugues. Enjoy a pleasant stroll through the historic old town, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996, watch the boats sailing on the River Douro and indulge in the exquisite local gastronomy.

Day 2 - Porto to Esposende 29,2 miles | 47 km
You will start the day cycling along the banks of the River Douro and then continue along the coast, passing through the beautiful and traditional fishing villages.
You can stop to visit the San Paio Castro and, further on, Povoa de Varzim, a town that in the 18th century was the main fishing port in the north of the country.
Before arriving in Esposende you have the chance to visit the Santa Clara Convent, one of the largest and richest in Portugal, founded in 1318, from where you can enjoy incredible views.

You can stop to visit the San Paio Castro and, further on, Povoa de Varzim, a town that in the 18th century was the main fishing port in the north of the country.

Day 3 - Esposende to Vila Praia de Ancora 26,7 miles | 43 km
Today the Camino will take you away from the coast, but you will be able to go inland, amidst beautiful forests and small villages.
When you reach the Eiffel Bridge over the River Lima, you will have the chance to stop and enjoy the magnificent views. You will pass through Viana do Castelo, considered one of the most beautiful towns in the north of Portugal.
Later, you will ascend a mostly wooded hill and then descend to Vila Praia de Ancora, the coastal town where you will spend the night.

When you reach the Eiffel Bridge over the River Lima, you will have the chance to stop and enjoy the magnificent views. You will pass through Viana do Castelo, considered one of the most beautiful towns in the north of Portugal.

Today's route will take you into Spanish territory. You will advance along the coast until you reach Caminha and from there you will take a boat on your own account to cross the River Minho and reach A Guarda, in Galicia.
You will then continue along forest tracks and coastal paths. On the way you can stop to admire Cabo Silerio and the Monastery of Santa Maria de Oya, a building dating back to the 12th century and considered the main monument in the municipality of Oya.
You will continue along the coast and through charming fishing villages. On the last part of the route you will go uphill through steep terrain and then descend towards Baiona, the first port in Europe where, with the arrival of La Pinta, the discovery of America was announced.
Ascent: 626m (1,722ft) / Descent: 630m (2,066ft)
You will then continue along forest tracks and coastal paths. On the way you can stop to admire Cabo Silerio and the Monastery of Santa Maria de Oya, a building dating back to the 12th century and considered the main monument in the municipality of Oya.
You will continue along the coast and through charming fishing villages. On the last part of the route you will go uphill through steep terrain and then descend towards Baiona, the first port in Europe where, with the arrival of La Pinta, the discovery of America was announced.

Then you will continue along a busy road and pass through many more villages until you reach Vigo.
Once in Vigo, you can walk through its charming streets and visit the Collegiate Church of Santa Maria or Co-cathedral of Vigo, a building dating from the early 19th century, or the House of Estanislao Duran, an architectural jewel from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

After several kilometres, you can start to see the Cies Islands, a beautiful archipelago located in the province of Pontevedra, and the port of Vigo.

You will continue through a forest and then descend towards Arcade, the world capital of oysters and Galician seafood.
