Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival in Armadale
The incredible tour of this wonderful island will start in Armadale, where you will arrive by ferry from Mallaig. Then, you'll arrive in Ardvasar, and enjoy a charming night in your accommodation where you can rest as challenging and rewarding days await you.

Day 2 - Ardvasar to Broadford 10,5 miles | 17 km
Today begins with a demanding walk, but full of wonderful scenery and natural surroundings. From Ardvasar, the starting point of your route, you will ascend a few metres to the village of Armadale, a village renowned for its castle of the same name and the 40 acres of gardens that have enhanced the ruins of the fortress. 

The route will also take you down some descents that will bring you close to Loch a'Ghlinne. Afterwards, head towards the shore to progress along green, undulating paths towards Achnacloich.

At the end of the route, we will transfer you to Broadford, where you can spend an amazing evening and enjoy a beer in one of its famous pubs before arriving at your accommodation.

Day 3 - Route around Broadford 11 miles | 17,5 km
Today you must travel from Broadford to Torrin. Once there, follow a path that takes you along wide tracks to the top of the cliffs in the uninhabited township of Boreraig. Here enjoy the Allt na Peighinn waterfall, the Dun Boreraig Stone archaeological site and the Eilean Gaineamhach Boreraig islet. 

Take time to take in the beautiful and memorable views at Boreraig. It's the perfect place to relax and recharge your batteries. 

Afterwards, continue walking while observing the local crops, herds and spectacularly unique nature. 

Follow the route to Broadford, where you will again spend the night.

Breathe in the fresh air while enjoying an authentic tour of rural Scotland. Today you will have an inclusive transfer from Broadford to Kilmarie. There you can walk along the shores of Camasunary Bay.

Continue along the path that will take you through different types of terrain as you approach Sligachan. Don't miss the unique views all along the way.

Day 5 - Sligachan to Portree 12 miles | 19,5 km
Finish your Scottish breakfast and embark on a wonderful tour that will give you some postcard panoramic views that you will always remember fondly. The road is quiet and you can enjoy the company of Loch Sligachan to Peinchorran.

Then continue on your tour until you get to see the fascinating village of Portree, where you will spend the night.

Day 6 - Route around Portree 8 miles | 13 km
Another day on the amazing Isle of Skye. After a short transfer you will arrive at Storr Loch Dam, and there you will start your walk for today. Today it will be a little easier, on undulating terrain, but easy to navigate as you traverse coastal viewpoints, crops, herds, moors and a great deal of nature. 

This road is a little solitary, so you'll have plenty of space just for you. Let yourself be carried away by the leafy trees that will guide you to the picturesque village of Portree.

Day 7 - Route around Storr 14 miles | 22,5 km
Today's walk will be challenging but you can be certain that it will be worthwhile. In Storr you will start your tour after a short transfer. You'll start with quite a pronounced ascent to the highest point on Trotternish Ridge.

Here you will have stunning, mountainous views and fascinating rock formations where you can see the essence of the Isle of Skye. You don't want this day to end because the nature you'll explore during your tour is quite incredible.

Once you start descending, you will reach the parking area in Quiraing, and there we will transfer you back to Portree so that you rest after a demanding day.

A pleasant and gentle route awaits you today. Start the day with a short transfer from Portree to Flodigarry. On arrival, descend to the Quiraing car park. This is a good day to walk at your own pace, enjoying the stunning scenery that Quiraing has to offer, famous for its captivating and endless beauty.

Then begin the ascent to the charming and remote village of Flodigarry where you will spend the night.

Travel & transfers

To get to Armadale you will need to fly into Glasgow Airport (GLA).

From Glasgow, you will need to go by train from Queen Street Station to Mallaig operated by Scotrail

From Mallaig, take the Caledonian MacBrayne (CalMac) ferry to Armadale. The journey takes approximately 30 minutes to get to Armadale on the Isle of Skye.

At the end of the journey the nearest airport will be Inverness Airport. To get to Inverness Airport take the Stagecoach bus (StageCoachBus) from Flodigarry to Portree. This journey takes around 1 hour.

From Portree, take a Citylink bus to Inverness. The journey takes approximately 3 hours.

From Inverness bus station, take a local bus or taxi to Inverness Airport (INV), which is about 20 minutes away.

Is luggage transfer included? What are the luggage requirements?
Absolutely! Each traveller has included 1 piece of luggage that we will transfer between your accommodations. It's important that this piece of luggage meets the following criterias:
  • Maximum weight of 45 lbs (20 kg).
  • Must be only 1 piece of luggage without any attachments or accessories.
  • Should not contain valuables, fragile items, food or medications.
  • Must be correctly identified (booking reference of your trip and the full name of the trip holder).
The approximate luggage delivery time will be at 4:00 PM.
What is the best time of year to do this trip?
You can explore this region between spring and autumn. At any time, you will have an unforgettable experience. However, if you go in summer, keep in mind that you may encounter midges (mosquitoes), that while you're on the move, they won't bother you.
