Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of equipment do I need?
What kind of equipment do I need?
We recommend packing lightweight, comfortable and quick-drying clothing, along with sturdy hiking shoes (or boots in winter). Bring an extra pair of shoes for relaxing after each walk, plus a compact waterproof jacket and trousers for unexpected weather. Trekking poles are also highly recommended, especially on steep or uneven terrain.
Equipment can vary depending on the season and destination. Once your booking is confirmed, we’ll send you a comprehensive information pack containing a detailed packing list, expert tips, and everything you need to be fully prepared for your Walking Holiday.
Can I travel alone?
Can I travel alone?
Yes, many of our Walking Holidays are suitable for solo travellers. Each route has its own level of difficulty, so we recommend checking the trip page to confirm whether it can comfortably be done alone. If you’re unsure, our team will gladly advise you on the best options for a safe and enjoyable solo experience.
If you prefer single-room accommodation, we can arrange this for you on any trip for an additional cost. Please note that single rooms are limited and very popular, so we recommend booking early to secure availability.
Your journey is fully supported — whether you walk on your own or with others.
What happens if I can’t walk or finish any of the stages?
What happens if I can’t walk or finish any of the stages?
If you’re unable to complete a stage due to fatigue or physical difficulty, many of our routes offer the possibility of continuing by public transport or taxi to your next accommodation. When this isn’t available, you can simply contact our support team, and we’ll help you arrange an alternative transfer whenever possible.
Your safety and comfort are our priority, and we’re always here to support you along the way.
Is luggage transfer between stages included?
Is luggage transfer between stages included?
Yes. All our Walking Holidays include luggage transfer between accommodations, so you can walk freely without carrying heavy bags. Each traveller may bring one piece of luggage of up to 20 kg (45 lbs), which we will transport for you each day.
We recommend carrying a small daypack during your walk with essentials such as water, sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, documents, snacks, and some cash.
Our goal is to make your journey as comfortable and carefree as possible.
What kind of physical preparation do I need?
What kind of physical preparation do I need?
At Orbis Ways, we offer a wide range of Walking Holidays and Camino de Santiago routes with different difficulty levels. On each trip page, you’ll find detailed information about daily distances, terrain, and the recommended fitness level to help you choose the route that best suits you.
In general, we suggest preparing at least one month before your trip. Start with 10–20 minutes of walking per day, and gradually increase your time and intensity until you comfortably reach 40–60 minutes of continuous walking. This simple routine will help you enjoy your journey with confidence and energy.
If you need personalised advice, we’re always here to guide you toward the route that fits your level and goals.
How do I get to the starting point of my trip?
How do I get to the starting point of my trip?
The easiest way to reach the starting point of your Walking Holiday is to travel to the nearest airport, train station, or bus station connected to your first night’s accommodation. On each trip page, you’ll find clear guidance and recommended arrival options to help you plan the journey smoothly.
Depending on the route you choose, airport or station transfers may be included. If not, you can request a private transfer and we will happily arrange it as part of your trip.
We’re here to ensure your arrival is simple, comfortable, and stress-free.
How far in advance do I need to book?
How far in advance do I need to book?
Accommodation in many of our destinations fills up quickly, especially during high season or local holidays. For the best availability and the widest choice of charming places to stay, we recommend booking as soon as you know your travel dates.
If any accommodation is fully booked, we will always arrange an equivalent or higher-category alternative, ensuring the same level of comfort and quality throughout your Walking Holiday.
Booking early helps us secure the very best experience for you.
